oh, fuck, i forgot to eat anything protein-like this morning with my cereal. the cereal having already been consumed by itself 3.5 hours ago, i can honestly say i am ready for lunch at 10AM. starving! but i will push through because it's what you do when times get rough, when the grumbling in your stomach is insatiable, when the turning over of acids is audible by your coworkers... when the rest of your coffee just won't cut it. surprisingly enough, coffee time coffee is pretty good. not french-roast-in-a-french-press good, but it's consumable without any sort of gagging or muscular twitch which may or may not land the whole cup in the garbage.

but aside from my hunger to eat something containing iron and to allow it to float through my veins at a regulated pace, i am also thinking about creating. speaking of creating remember the creation story? what a riot! people always compare God-creating to human creation and say it's different 'cause somehow there are sparkles and maybe a bunny will come out of a hat. but when humans create things, it's in the same way that the Bible describes as God's method: take what's there and make something else, something better, something needed and useful. though the jury's still out on why He may or may not have created us, but i digress.

what's with that capital 'h'? does God care about punctuation, too?

so yes, it's true, i am starting work on a photography collaboration with a new person whom i met over craigslist, and whom i had a meeting with this past sunday. i am terribly paranoid about sharing any of the details of our idea, brainstorming, or plans with anyone, so don't ask. when it's done you will know, and you will know us by the coming of greatness... greatness that will infect your eyehole, even both of your eyeholes at once! it's true. visine will clear that right up.

and then there's the music, the tunes, the release, the relief... my relief. i sometimes get stuck in ruts of thinking that it always comes back to people, but it doesn't. the truth of the matter is that whenever i misplace myself for whatever reason, it comes back to two things: my music and my books. people find it hard to understand why i always buy books and not borrow them- it's because they are my best friends and do not question or judge my choices, but knit me cozy ideas to wrap around myself. i find comfort in words if not only because words are as indescribable as the events in our lives that they attempt to convey.

where was i going with this? picked up my guitar again after a long hiatus from playing. always forgetting how good it feels to play, always forgetting why i started in the first place. the tiny things that jog your memory- every time i pull out my credit card i remember how the first purchase i made, oh so many moons ago, was a used Cort from Cash Converters. of course, neither of those things are around anymore- the Cort was stolen from a friend's house. but my Takamine, well, it was worth the thievery (no matter how much stealing pisses me off). need new strings, new strings for new music. i've got some song ideas, some good ideas.

start slow, don't run, be calm, cool... collected. keep the pace of yourself not of others. there is always someone trying to get around you and there is always someone blocking you- the subway system is a metaphor for life. no rushing if you're not late, push yourself for better- better isn't faster or more aggressive, it's quite simply... staying in sync with yourself. all of these thoughts from the past couple days of realignment, all cliches, but that is of no consequence.

i have ideas and plans and goals, drugs smiles and lots of love, so quit your fucking whining!

were the first hamburgers made by the burger king made from the burger queen? or did she just die during childbirth like every other person from that era when kings and queens mattered...?

How do you strike a balance in such a hypothetical situation?

I have never been good at balances in my brain- it's either I fucking hate your guts and want to pour barbecue sauce on your head before the flesh-eating ants... or I love you so much it makes me weepy.

How the fuck are all you people so balanced and shit? signing off for now...

i thought of a quote. you can quote me on this:

"Pop culturists and historians are both studying the same things at different times."

i know. it's so cohesive and poignant that you are now at one with nature... it is a sunset of words...

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-Robert Frost

part of the trip to the south included a tour of the jack daniel's distillery in lynchburg, tennessee. it's a free tour, and a wickedly complete tour (as in concise, interesting, and ends in lemonade). moore county, where lynchburg is located, has been a dry county since 1909, so we couldn't drink any at the old bar afterward. instead, they served us lemonade and i drank a bottle of water. drunk on lemonade, we stumbled around the 'town of lynchburg' which is probably entirely owned by the distillery. i shit you not they had souvenirs piled to the moon: shirts, racing shirts, cowboy shirts, leather jackets, jean jackets, belts, buckles, pens, keychains, MIXING BOWLS, and so on. anything you could think of they stamped Jack Daniel's on it. amazing. i bought one shot glass and got one free. however, the barrel store was neat in that you could buy all kinds of mcguyver-esque creations made from the very barrells that once stored old no. 7.

anyway, we left moore county and proceeded to drink jack at the airport the next day, on the plane, and then at various places upon our return, as well. amazingx2.

so the picture above is our tour group with the tour guide. he was hilarious and i have my own pictures from the tour to upload next week, so sit tight.

um... despite me being 6'4" i had to stand in the back and Al blocked me, but you can tell it's me by my bright orange shirt.

in other news: i already ate my lean cuisine chicken a l'orange and am still hungry. i have pitas in the fridge but nothing to go with them... ham, no burger...

trippin' 2007.

These are the pics* I thought I'd not burned properly- from day one of our mini-road trip from Toronto to (eventually) Minneapolis. We spent two days in Holland, MI where we were absolute tourists, wore high heels to a micro brewery, ate Ben & Jerry's (so eclectic)... and, of course, sat our asses on the beach for a good day of sunburny goodness.

The rest of the pics from the following day (beach day) and the cabin (Deer Lake, WI) can be seen HERE.

We thank you in advance for viewing and wish you a safe and healthy weekend.

More to come, yet from adventure numero deux- Sweatin' in the South(tm)!

*No Photoshop so that I may actually get the pics posted in a timely manner. Computer so slowww.
