work.

okay, so here's a list of why i'm so stressed this week, this is today's to-do list, completed:

1. had to come to the office today on my 'home day' because the printer messed the proofs yesterday, and the other org. whose cards we're printing sent files with no bleeds.

2. last night at midnight i get the files to fix them and resubmit to the printer. BUT the woman forgot to include the images she used in each file... so we wait...

3. get images this morning, fix files, insert new TIFFs in place of JPEGS, bleed correctly, export, upload to printer's FTP, done. oh, one more proble- fix files, upload, done.

4. mug company effed up the print job on our mug order. we need them replaced for free. back and forth emailing.

5. one box to be replaced from here, one replaced from a drop shipment in the states. easy enough.

6. NO WAY! customer calls, decides she wants to cancel her order for those mugs. okay, now going on 1001 emails to mug people.

7. all the while phones ring ring ring hello tell me about this that bla bla orders and blabbing

8. weekly specials email with daily sales, from today up until when i return from vacation (9 products)... constructed including product images, links, etc. & sent out to our customer email list.

9. a walk-in customer! yay! stop what you're doing and attend. phones still ringing. okay browse, add up order, purchase complete. bye.

10. LUNCH.

11. create new covers for new booklets we're putting in the fall catalogue.

12. work on pages for new fall catalogue which has to be at the printer at the end of the week i get back. compile an order for the pages and correct any wrong-facing ones.

13. in walks purolator to pick up defective mugs, and what-ho! they didn't tell us to complete anything beforehand, so dude is all attitude with me, whilst checking me out creepily (and he's wearing a do-rag hahahahah), about that even though i said they didn't tell us. a call-tag means THEY provide all info and we just package it. FUCK. come back tomorrow.

14. 'SPLODE.

15. reassemble. drink.

ha ha ha ha haaaa aaahhh hahahah

pr0n line of the week:
[him] "oh ma gawd... you could impregnate a village with that."

a village? men, also? or just the sheep? a village! just sit back and think about how ridiculous that is...

i can't stop laughing.

whatever you need to tell yourself there, fella. no wonder you have to pay people to have sex with you.

as a side note, though: it is interesting how, even in this day, the supposed "turn on" is to impregnate someone. or a village, whatever. but, weird, isn't it? it seems weird to me on the surface that any dude watching dude-oriented porn (99% of it) would find that arousing. but when you consider that there is a growing trend among humans of not wanting to reproduce, as well as the fact that the base desire to propagate is inherent in all species' (no matter how repressed), well... not that weird...

a bizarre manifestation, perhaps. maybe the pornographers are the real geniuses... maybe they're gonna save the human race... !

or, you know, it's just the ever-intoxicating concept of taboo appearing, yet again, via the entrepreneurial minds of hillbillies with DV cams.

man, what a night... vibrations...

i am so tired i can barely keep good posture today. every second is a battle against the urge to slouch, let my gut hang out, and metamorphose into a 40 year old bloke wif no teef and chip-grease-armpit-sweat stained wife beater.

hunched over, neck eased back so as to avoid using any muscles that might otherwise be, uh, used.

that is my posture right now. involuntary gravitational compression in all the bendy places.

wow, coke-face and attitude: surprise!

so the other night i was oot and aboot with P., after comedy at the rivoli, and we wandered about queen west. we went to the Rhino for a beer and free pool (i actually won one game!), then walked outside and ended up just grabbing another drink upstairs at the Drake. i have only ever been to the underground to see a band or two play, eons ago. it's not really a place i frequent 'cause a)far from my 'hood, b)when i go out on a saturday i'd rather not wait in line to get in somewhere, then stand there elbow to elbow once inside, c)the drinks are esspensive!

anyway, we go upstairs, order drinks, P. grabs the table over by the lookout and i am waiting to pay. the guy at the counter says they don't take interac, so i went downstairs to use the ATM.

when i came back up to the bar, our drinks were sitting there waiting but this guy was standing in front of them. he had his drink in hand, and was almost moving away from the bar before deciding to stop (right in front of our drinks) halfway and text someone, or check his text messages, or what the fuck ever.

so i put my hand gently on his shoulder and said, "'scuuuuuse me," in a friendly way, just saying hey, my drinks are there, you're done, i'd like to pay and go sit down...

he started to move then i feel him stop. he turns around:

"Are you pushing me out of the way?"

"Um, no, I said excuse me..."

"WELL I DIDN'T HEAR EXCUSE ME, ARE YOU PUSHING ME OUT OF THE WAY?"

"I said excuse me."

"Alright, well how's your night going?"

"Good."

What the fuck? The look on his face- he was angry with me, angry as if he knew me and had any right to speak to me that way. I got so angry that I barely heard what P. said when i went back to the table, until i told him about it. i opted not to instigate anything because i could tell he was, um, a little "high strung" and, well, to what end? get in a fight and let some asshole ruin my evening? fuck no. fuck you.

The vodka cran and good company eased the anger after a few...

yum.

so i've been reading all kinds of business about the recent surge of "live active cultures" in yogurts and dairy products. i was curious about why it was such a big deal, and moreso what the differences were between regular yogurt and the "expensive kind".

interesting!

i found this article on cbc's website:
http://www.cbc.ca/consumers/market/files/food/yogurt/index2.html

and then, during the course of my research i also found that, though more of danone yogurt's cultures remain alive for longer than the other brands tested, the activia yogurt line contains trans fats. amazing, eh? it's not a lot at 0.1g per serving of 100g, but still... i wonder why?

astro brand's bio best contains more active cultures with the addition of l. acidophilus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactobacillus_acidophilus), and though 2/3 die off near the end of shelf-life (according to the article), they contain 0 trans fats and less sugar overall.

so i suppose it's your call, really... tit for tat... i just found it to be an informative day and wanted to share.

bye!

gotta rant while i'm still fuming.

time for a rant...

about everyone!

ya know, when someone is carrying two 15 lb. grocery bag sets in each hand, and you decide to turn right in front of her FROM THE LEFT LANE of the perpendicular road... you don't get 'props' for saying sorry and waving your hand... no, you do not get kudos for doing the bare minimum. this is why stupid people exist, it's a big cycle of stupidity:

stupid person does something, like whoa, stupid
other person is pissed
stupid person says sorry
other person feels guilty for feeling pissed
other person says it's ok
stupid person continues to do stupid things

see?

so when i glare at you and be all "my arm is killing me" passive aggressive about it, and you say, "nevermind, then!"

okay. fine. nevermind indeed. but you will not be excused for your stupidity.

signing off, your utmost judg0r.

oh, and to the dude this morning who smelled like last week's urine, and the dude this afternoon who smelled like ten goats died under each arm (last week, also): thank you for riding the TTC and making it the better way.

this is all i can hear, they all talk like they've swallowed bread and it stuck in their throat:

shmuff smuffle shmuff shmuff gurlge blat ree ree boo borker whark ma hellee helle wahaaa.

and then:

i love how nobody ever commits to anything... wearing what appears to be smug, tenty eyebrows and a botox forehead emhpasized by what, in some circles, may be seen as a conservative, anglo hairdizzle.

yes sir, just another night on the hormone wagon, that was FUN! i wanna go again! if only that rollercoaster was as good as the minebuster then i wouldn't want to throw myself off a bridge. wow. and then of course the bright idea to open the bottle of wine and that just went downhill... it was one of those mornings where the alarm clock went off, 'cause the little 'z' was flashing, but i didn't hear it, and somehow it had already been snoozed. snooze-button hitting ghosts up in my room, i tell ya whut.

in other news, i am getting some bristol creme tonight and indulging myself in the art of painting some sort of something on my closet door. it will be grand, some sort of starburst... something entirely frivolous to offset all of the productivity and marketing i have to do elsewhere. a night of nothing but me and my whack brain.

every now and then i have attacks of ("their") conscience where i think i should be doing more with my life, or i think i should have more at this point, or that some sort of love of my life would make me feel better or what the fuck ever, but then i come to my senses... usually after some wine and a good sob session, realizing that i like my life. i like having leisure time and to busy all the time would make me unhappy.

what makes me happy is people, sunshine, outdoors, travelling, and creating... otherwise you can keeps it, precious.

out.

hanlan's point beach.
had lunch with my good friend DA today and we talked about everything, as per usual. we shared some crab cakes and sub-par spinach dip as well as three pints of brew, so i'm now coming down from the buzz... but suffice to say the company was true.

he said to me that i look and act more like a woman than when we first met over a year ago. i'd have to say he's right. i knew it and have know it, whatever "a woman" is... but i do know i'm different than before in a multitude of ways that you may not be interested in. then again, if you're reading my blog you probably are...

during the course of our lunch my trip to the island a few weeks back came up. how i'd been talking to the nudist society guy and bla bla. at one point, NS guy said if we had any questions at all to ask him, so in my half-baked, beer-infused-sunshine-frisbee state i piped up and asked him what was the strangest story of island happenings he's ever heard. he answered with something so mild i don't even remember. he must have been editing in his brain because i'm sure, at the very least, at some point, there must have been ballsac beestings or shrinkage so bad it never came back out. something.

i really wish i could remember what it was he told us, but for the life of me there's nothing there.

in other news: i have an insufferable craving for one of those convenience store ice cream cones and i think this time i will succumb. oh sweet jesus i can taste it now!

can't believe this shit...

BREAKING NEWS
i am currently talking to a mug production company & preparing artwork... this company requires artwork to be in Illustrator format with all embedded images to be at least 600dpi and they do not have an FTP upload site for files.

WOT TEH FOK?

even our wee graphic designer has one. even the wee non-profit print shop we use has one.

a 'poor me' control drama.

i think i am going to have a quiet night to myself this evening. holiday be damned, i need to be alone.

i think i may need a vacation from everything.

workin' in scarb'ra
can't get no bagel out here
mcmuffin it was

i have had this great yearning once again to be in the middle of nowhere with no cities or concrete for miles. just grass, sweat, sunlight. lisa summed it up: i need a moment to slow down and just take it all in, again. this past sunday was a nice taste of what i seek: frisbee, warm breezes, beer, sunshine. however, i want about a week of that- nobody on my heels, nobody's heels to step on. the past couple nights it's felt as if my brain would never stop. bzzzzzzzzzzt ring ring beep beep woooooo thoughts whirring, can't sleep, lather rinse repeat. out singing, supposedly having a good time, did have a good time, but still... the racing mind results in paranoia results in can't sleep again results in aggression results in restless legs.

i think my close-knit group of friends all share the same feeling as me, that i feel the most whole and complete when truly and utterly alone. sounds cheese, but it's like becoming one with nature- as if the vastness and simultaneous emptiness of 'the other' is within me as much as it is without. there's no experience as great as the magnitude of nature. the immensity of what is.
